The world of Skyrim is absolutely massive. With hundreds of locations to explore and countless quests to do, even after the main story is done, you're not likely to get bored quickly. However, there's bound to come a time when you just want to spice things up a little bit.
Whether it's by starting a new game or adding immersive mods after the fact, mods can really change the way you experience Skyrim. The best way in our minds, however, is adding one of these funniest Skyrim mods to your game. Weird and funny in nature, they'll make you look at the world around you in a more comedic way and perhaps even reignite your love for Skyrim.
Updated October 26, 2021 by Erik Petrovich: The wide world of mods for Skyrim continues to expand, even a decade after the game's original release. Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is set to release on November 11, 2021 and contains a swathe of mods that promise to completely change the way players experience the seminal RPG. Some of the most funny Skyrim mods won't be included in this soon-to-be-released collection, and as many are no longer being updated, time is running short on being able to experience these hilarious addons at all. When it comes to the weirdest Skyrim mods, players have limitless choices including everything from replacing the Thuum with a fart noise to full-on expansion-sized comedy addons – though most of these mods tend to be small.
20 Animated Fart Shouting
Shouts in Skyrim all use the same tired third-person animation of the player leaning forward to launch their Thuum forwards. Players who want something a little bit different have lots of mods available to them, none of which quite tickle the funny bone like the Animated Fart Shouting mod.
With this mod, both the sound and player animation for the Dragonborn's shouts are replaced with something a bit more flatulent. The player will bend over to launch their... Thuum... and even other enemies that use the Voice will use the farting sound effect instead of the normal one for their shouts. It's a bit juvenile, but it's an easy laugh.
The Animated Fart Shouting mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
19 My Little Pony Weapons and Armor
The My Little Pony series is, for better or worse, an integral part of the last decade's meme culture, just like Skyrim. It's natural that the two would come together in some way - and the My Little Pony Weapons and Armor mod does a lot more than just combine the two.
The mod brings a variety of Weapons, including the Twilight Sparkle sword and Pinkie Pie arrows, as well as of course Armor, like helmets that practically replace the player's head with that of one of the show's characters.
The My Little Pony Weapons and Armor mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
18 Uncle Sheogorath's Really Helpful Tips
Sheogorath isn't known for his insightful or helpful comments, he's known for his ridiculousness, jumblings of words, pretty evil actions in his past, and insane musings on life and experience of mortals. Similarly, Skyrim's loading screen tips don't help player much either.
The Uncle Sheogorath's Really Helpful Tips mod changes loading screen tips to sound more like they come from the mouth of the Daedric Prince of Madness himself. Lines like "Ysgramor smelled faintly of violets his entire life" sound like they come from the mouth of the Daedric Prince of Madness himself.
Uncle Sheogorath's Really Helpful Tips can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
17 No Spiders - Spiderman Edition
Arachnophobia is a fear that some video game developers in modern times take time to design around, offering players alternative models for the spiders or ways to get past them without having to see their eight-legged forms. The No Spiders mod replaces spiders in Skyrim with other models to make them less terrifying, except for this edition of the mod.
The Spiderman Edition of No Spiders retextures every spider in the game to have the red and blue webbed costume of Marvel's most well-known hero. Whether it actually makes the spiders less terrifying is dubious, but it's a mod that will take players by surprise if they forgot they installed it.
No Spiders - Spiderman Edition can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
16 Super Skyrim Bros
The Super Mario Brothers series is perhaps the most well-known video game franchise of all time. Skyrim, on the other hand, might be the most well-known RPG of all time. Put the two together and you get the Super Skyrim Bros mod, which does a lot more than retexture the game.
The expansive mod adds a new area, the Mushroom Kingdom, for players to explore as well as new NPCs, weapons, armors, and other collectibles. Containing a variety of themed levels, Super Skyrim Bros takes place in a dream and thus, theoretically, doesn't break The Elder Scrolls lore - though this claim is challengable, to say the least.
Super Skyrim Bros can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
15 Guards Are Chickens
In vanilla Skyrim, guards are the ones who provide the majority of entertainment. They're disrespectful, and always have something sassy and witty to say. It's no wonder the "arrow to the knee" line has become so famous in the game.
What if, however, the guards were actually not guards but something else? One player decided turning the guards into chickens, which drastically changes the look the game. Nothing like getting arrested by an angry chicken after stealing someone's sweetroll.
Guards are Chickens can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
Paarthurnax is a fan favorite. He's a wise and kind dragon, someone who has worked hard to overcome his evil nature. He's one of the few dragons who actually take the Dragonborn's side and agree to help him defeat Alduin.
As a result, he's become the subject of tons of jokes, including people changing his name to Partysnacks. Now, there's even a mod that gives him this unique little nickname that Skyrim fans use out of affection for him.
Partysnax can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
13 Sweetroll Randomization Act
Skyrim wouldn't be what it is without sweetrolls, these delicious-looking pastries that can be found scattered around the world. Even the guards will sometimes ask the player if someone has stolen their sweetroll, that's how iconic this treat is.
Anyone wanting a bit more sweetrolls into their game will love this mod, which introduces a sweetroll standing stone, a random chance of getting a sweetroll, and even sweet trolls, which are trols with the sweetroll texture. However, be warned, because sweetrolls can now result in addiction.
Sweetroll Randomization Act can be downloaded from the Skyrim Special Edition Nexus.
12 Dragon Punishment For Cloud District Quips
There's no question about who's the most hated man in all of Skyrim. Nazeem in Whiterun, and his arrogant attitude, has often tested the patience of even the best players. Even after the Dragonborn has saved the province, he'll continue to question their ability to visit the Cloud District.
But no more. This mod allows players to punish Nazeem for questioning their status. A punishment will allow the player to send Nazeem flying into the stratosphere, a spell from which he will almost always recover in time to be punished again.
Dragon Punishment for Cloud District Quips can be downloaded from the Skyrim Special Edition Nexus.
11 Courier Frostbite Spider
Skyrim isn't meant to be a particularly scary game, but players who have a fear of spiders might find it hard to deal with Skyrim's trademark Frostbite creepy crawlies. Luckily, they're all usually contained within caves and Nordic dungeons, or some deeper parts of Skyrim's forests.
However, this mod ups the horror just a bit more for arachnophobes by turning that sweet, helpful Courier man into a big Frostbite spider. Imagine the terror of seeing a spider chase after you with a letter in hand, and decide if this mod is really worth a heart attack.
The Courier Frostbite Spider mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Special Edition Nexus.
10 Really Useful Dragons
Dragons are cool, but they get stale about ten encounters into the game. After you've leveled up and become a literal god in the flesh, fighting dragons who always do the same thing gets a little bit stale. So, why not turn them into Thomas the Tank characters?
That's what the mod "Really Useful Dragons" does. The distant roar of an approaching beast is now the whistle of a train as it descends upon you to wreak complete havoc. Never have children's show characters looked this terrifying!
Really Useful Dragons can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
9 Posh Mudcrabs
We're not sure what it is, but the Skyrim community seems absolutely obsessed with Mudcrabs. There's a ton of mods out there that turn them into a variety of weird things and even make them curse at you.
However, our personal favorite is the Posh Mudcrab mod which gives them a golden monocle and a tiny top hat. You might be wondering what the point of this mod is, and you'd be right to ask that. There's no point, but we'll say this: you'll never look at Mudcrabs the same when fighting them!
Posh Mudcrabs can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
8 Divine Punishment
Skyrim has come a long way from Oblivion when it comes to voice acting. Instead of hearing the same ten people over and over again, we now have dozens of different voice actors. Still, some repetition cannot be avoided. How many times have you heard those city guards talk about taking an arrow to the knee in the very same voice?
If you're getting tired of it, too, this mod is perfect for you. Whenever a guard utters those forbidden words, they will receive a lightning bolt from the skies that will punish them for bringing up the same old story. Convenient!
The Divine Punishment mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
7 Staff Of Sweet Rolls
Sweet rolls are a huge recurring theme in Bethesda games. Not only do they look delicious, but the characters in Skyrim seem a bit obsessed with them. Even guards will ask you if someone stole your sweet roll.
If you, too, love sweet rolls, this mod gives you the only weapon you've ever needed: the Staff of Sweet Rolls. Point it at anyone and they will promptly be turned into a delicious treat for you to collect. Why turn your enemies into bloody mush when you could just recycle them into sweets?
The Staff of Sweet Rolls mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
6 Bear Musician
Ever thought that your Skyrim could use a bit more cool music? Maybe you've grown tired of the bards always playing the same songs with zero variety. Thankfully, this mod features an amazingly talented and helpful bear that will play some amazing tunes to cheer you up.
From Queen's "We Will Rock You" to the infamous surf-rock classic Misirlou, the musical bear has got you covered with his lute. Let's not forget about how engaged he looks when he's jamming out to his music!
The Bear Musician can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
5 Crimes Against Nature
Skyrim has a pretty good variety of different races to choose from, but, if you're looking for something a little different, Crimes Against Nature has got you covered. Whether you've always dreamed of playing as a chair, a dog, or a My Little Pony character, you've got plenty to choose from.
You'll no longer be confined by the restrictions that Skyrim's lore puts on you at the beginning of the game and get to unleash your true self in the form of, well, whatever it is you've always wanted to be.
The Crimes against Nature mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Steam Workshop.
4 Macho Dragons
Once you've grown absolutely tired of watching Thomas the Tank flying above your head, you might be thinking to yourself you want something different for dragons. We recommend the Macho Man mod, which turns Skyrim's dragons into, well, this.
This mod turns every roar into a specific voice line by the Macho Man, and the best part is his "yeah!" that often precedes fire or frost being spat on your face. There's truly no better mod to give yourself a real giggle when fighting dragons, and you have to appreciate the facial animations on the new model.
The Macho Dragons mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
3 Skyrim Belongs To The Gourds
If you thought Skyrim belonged to the Nords, you were terribly wrong. According to this mod, it belongs to the gourds. Right off the bat, you can choose gourd as your species, with the option of legs or no legs.
Slowly but surely, you will begin to assert your superior gourd-ness over the people of Skyrim and take back control of your native lands as it was always meant to be. Another great mod for those looking for an alternative gameplay experience who are just plain bored with the species already available.
Skyrim Belongs to the Gourds can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
2 Skeleton Trumpet Feet
Any true meme lovers out there will be very familiar with the Skull Trumpet meme. A classic of the Internet, you'll be happy to know its essence has now been immortalized in Skyrim as well.
Thanks to this mod, the footsteps of your bony enemies will be turned into trumpet sounds. Not only will you receive fair warning of their arrival, but also enjoy this age-old meme every time you fight reanimated skeletons. A simple but quality mod!
Skeleton Trumpet Feet can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
1 Explosive Chickens
Chickens are pretty helpless in Skyrim and always get bullied by players. If you understand this injustice too and would like to add a bit of a kick to your chickens' arsenal, the Exploding Chickens mod lets you do just that.
Next time you try to whack an innocent chicken, prepare for an explosion that will blast right in your face and punish you for being a bully. It's a great mod to prank your friends with, too, if they have no idea what they're getting themselves into and have yet to play Skyrim properly.
The Explosive Chickens mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Nexus.
One player encounters a bizarre bug within Skyrim that causes their combat skill to level up quickly without moving on to different parts of the game.
